Coalition Statement Addressing Racial, Ethnic and Religious Hatred

In light of the grave acts of antisemitic violence and rhetoric worldwide in public and on social media the Madison County Racial Justice Coalition rejects all forms of antisemitism, expressed discrimination, intolerance, and hate speech, which dangerously serve to fuel hostility and violence against the Jewish people.

While freedom of speech and protest are at the heart of our democracy, we disavow any form of disparaging rhetoric and unequivocally condemn all attacks targeting Jewish people and their places of business, culture, and worship.
Instead, we seek to foster a diverse, just and inclusive society where all people and institutions are protected and free from acts of violence and hate-filled speech. Towards that end, the Madison County Racial Justice Coalition will continue to strategically work to address racial, ethnic, and religious hatred wherever it appears. We believe none of us is free until all of us are free.

Coalition Statement Regarding Russia’s War in the Ukraine

The Madison County Racial Justice Coalition was founded on numerous principles, among them we believe..

-        In centering those most impacted by systemic racism and oppression

-        In the transformative and  healing power of justice

-        That none of us is free, until all of us are free.

With these beliefs at our core, the MCRJC stands in solidarity with the oppressed people of Ukraine whose nation and home are under siege and experiencing the horrors of war. We urge our national leaders and other leaders around the world to work diligently for a fast end to this unjustified and unprovoked war waged against the Ukrainian people.

Our hearts are broken for the Ukrainian people who live in the U.S. who fear and mourn for their families back home. Similarly, we express concern for Russians who are our neighbors who do not share the autocratic views of the leader of their homeland.

The MCRJC recognizes that among the inherent dignity and inalienable equal rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peaceful coexistence.
